The Botanist

This delightful lunch at The Botanist on Sloane Square in London almost made me forget the fact that I hate eating alone. But when dishes are this appetizing, who would want to share??? Top to bottom: Slow Cooked Duck Egg, Shredded Dorset Crab, and Foie Gras.

The slow cooked duck egg was a breakfast-like starter with a lot of intrigue. The egg was cooked to gooey perfection. Then topped with fresh white beans (soft, subtle crunch), girolles mushrooms, and a bit of lardon (you can never go wrong with that!).

Next, moving on to the Shredded Dorset crab, pancetta and drops of avocado pureé on top of a delicate, thin slice of watermelon. A delicious and creative combination! I really enjoyed the combination of sweet watermelon with the salty pancetta. The crab then tied everything together.

Lastly, my lunch finished with a refined Foie gras ballotine, decorated with salted Muscat grapes and topped with Banyuls vinegar. I know I vowed never to eat Foie gras again, but this was irresistible! Dear Botanist, thanks for the great experience and service!
