Chicken Soup

I'm not usually a soup person, but yesterday I had a huge craving for some homemade chicken soup. So I pulled out a recipe from from my lengthy "to cook" list and made nearly a gallon of chicken soup/broth. I think that will keep my craving at bay for some time. The broth was very savory and had some heat to it (I poured in quite a bit of black pepper). I absolutely loved the organic chicken. The meat fell right off of the bone and was incredibly juicy. Lastly, the sweet potato and yam added some wonderful sweetness. I dropped in some wild mushrooms into the soup too to mix up the textures.

Before I had my bowl of chicken noodle soup, I decided to photograph it against two different colored backgrounds: green and brown. Once processed, I had a difficult time deciding which images looked better. So I took a poll on Twitter, Facebook, and Vark. The responses that I received were surprisingly consistent. Several people instinctively gravitated towards the green background because of the bold contrast it had with the food. However, more people thought that the brown background enhanced the feeling of tastiness and comfort food. The only photos that I'm showing here are on the brown background, but you can look at the comparison here.

Recipe can be found here.

Hey, what a surprise. At first I thought your soup looks a lot like mine and then I discovered this IS my recipe :) Glad you liked it.
As for the pic - I think that a green background does look good, but it makes the food looks green and I'm not sure this is a good thing for a soup pic... I choose the comfort look ;)
